Created during the coronavirus pandemic, Jaye Rhee's digital artwork, Handcrafted Reality, explores the human relationship with digital screens and the notion of virtual space.  Rhee constructed detailed 3-dimensional objects from various sources.
She then assembled, staged them in innumerable configurations and filmed them to create fantastical moving tableaux.
Recalling early screensavers with floating imageries and popular computer games, Rhee's whimsical work captures the essential reality of our lives that are increasingly spent in front of screens and alludes to the collapsing of the real and the virtual.
